About the job
The Change and Release Analyst role resides in the IT Service and Quality Management team within Information Technology. The purpose of this position is to provide experience-based knowledge on software change and release processes in alignment with the IT Service Management framework. The position holder will help develop, establish and maintain software change and release processes to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of IT Service Delivery to the customers of Swinburne IT.

The Change and Release Analyst is expected to analyse existing processes and accompanying documentation, simplifying where appropriate and ensuring clarity and purpose of process steps, sequencing, decision points and inter-relations with other processes. The position is also expected to employ interviewing techniques to understand undocumented procedures and translate that information into a documented process. A pre requisite requirement for this role is excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to extract and analyse information. Excellent documentation skills are also required, as the output from process analysis is the creation/update of procedures, processes, guidelines, and diagrams that articulate and instruct on process flow in a clear and concise manner.

The Change and Release Analyst will support colleagues in the IT Service and Quality Management team as a champion of continuous improvement, promoting a culture of Continuous Improvement across Swinburne’s IT operational teams. The role is expected to work collaboratively with IT teams and stakeholders to build understanding of the benefits derived through adherence to processes and compliance with policy, through which an improved service delivery offering will drive down the occurrence and impact of system outages, and enhance our ability to maintain reliable IT services whilst enabling the efficient execution of change.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

 

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated experience in a service management role requiring the ability to plan, coordinate, supervise, monitor and evaluate
  • Demonstrable customer focus bias with a track record for delivering service improvements using the ITIL framework
