About the scholarship 
A PhD scholarship is available for a high caliber candidate to join an industry led research project. The theme of the project is in the area of automation of plastic repair applications. The PhD student will work as part of a team of material scientists and robotics researchers to develop new and innovative automation solutions integrating technologies from several technology fields such as material science, robotics, 3D scanning and 3D printing. This is a new and very challenging area with high potential for future growth.

A PhD stipend of AU$35,000 per annum (tax free) and a tuition free scholarship will be provided to the right candidate for up to 3 years. The starting date is as soon as possible but some flexibility is possible for the right candidate.

Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

• Bachelor’s degree (with first class honors) or a Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, robotics or related field. Significant industrial relevant experience will also be well considered.

• Proficient CAD skills

• Practical experience in developing/integrating mechatronic systems, preferably for articulated robots, and an understanding of real world issues that arise
