About the job
The Senior Functional Analyst (Finance) position reports to the Deputy Director, Business Improvement Team, in the Information Technology department. The Business Improvement Team focuses on systems support and improvement for Student, Finance and People and Culture Systems, and will expand into systems improvement for Learning, Teaching, Research, Corporate, or any other area as dictated by demand.

This role is required to establish strong partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement significant improvements for Finance Systems processes and optimise use of systems. This involves analysis and definition of business requirements, identification, design, coordinating user testing, and implementation of innovative solutions, including business process re- engineering and systems optimisation including training. This position will be required to support the Business Improvement Team in managing different streams of work.

The Senior Analyst needs to build strong working relationships with other parts of the organisation to ensure effective and complete support of Finance systems. This position is responsible for driving high standard of customer service and working with stakeholders to ensure recognition of, and responsiveness to, the needs of internal and external clients.

The team works collaboratively across the IT function, partnering with other teams in the provision of a high quality, responsive and seamless service, and works to continuously improve services.

Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Relevant qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
• Substantial experience in developing and implementing business processes, ensuring adherence to standard processes and/or government legislation in a large, complex organisation
• Proven ability to make a significant contribution of the University including provision of authoritative advice relating to areas of responsibility and the development of strategic and operational plans
