The Centre for Design Innovation is a fast-growing research effort of Swinburne University of Technology.  
2    X SUPRA scholarships are on offer:
1st Opportunity
We seek to commence a Swinburne University Post Graduate Award scholarship (APA equivalent), for a highly motivated and eligible graduate to produce deep research into one of the following research topic areas:
1)    User Experience for Services: Tourism and Design: development of an empirically informed model for tourism experiences (in a nominated focus area of the Tourism sector: traveller, stayer, or agency/broker, incorporating the requirements of different stakeholders, and contributing to and using related tourism services, products, sites or accommodation.
2)    Architecture and Habitat: Waste 2 Opportunity Colombia: Identify opportunities in the waste management and recycling system in Medellin, Colombia, for whole-system improvement in urban ecology, social enterprise development and economically-viable design and manufacture of innovative products from recycled materials. The PhD candidature would be situated in the context of sustainable cities and communities, sustainable product development and sustainable livelihood commensurate with the intention of the Quito 2017 Habitat III - New Urban Agenda.
3)    Architecture and Habitat: Architecture products:  CDI invites proposals for the development of an empirically informed innovation in a specific area of design interest that leads to the development of an a   product for the discipline and practice of Architecture.  The research will focus on the User Experience value added to building design interiors or exteriors and adhere to key sustainability principles.  Proposals should show how the research contributes to the Quito, 2017, Habitat III New Urban Agenda.

The successful candidate must be able to commence their scholarship before 30 June 2018. 
2nd Opportunity
We seek to commence a Swinburne University Post Graduate Award scholarship (APA equivalent), for a highly motivated and eligible graduate to produce deep research into the following areas:
1)    development of an empirically informed model for developing regional wine tourism experiences, incorporating the requirements of different stakeholders (e.g. state and local tourism organisations and companies, Wine Australia, regional wine producers, cellar door staff; and the needs of wine tourists as end users) and contributing to and using related tourism services (e.g. food experiences, sightseeing, cycling etc.)
2)    design, development and evaluation of interactive technologies that will transform and enhance the tourists’ experiences at Australian wine regions as well as meet the needs of the different stakeholders contributing to regional sustainable (tourism) development. 
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
•    A Bachelor degree with honours (equivalent to 2A or above) and/or a master’s degree with clear research project components in a field either related to Design Innovation, Human Centred Design, User Experience Design, or Interaction Design.
•    Research experience in at least one of the following areas: UX in Tourism and Design; and/or Cross-cultural design innovation, and complex socio-technical systems research; and/or Architectural Product Design.  Demonstrable capacity for empirical research methods, including mixed methods.
•    Demonstrable ability to be self-motivated with an aptitude for research and development.
