About the job
Swinburne University of Technology has an ambitious goal of growth in research performance and impact, as set out in its 2020 Research and Innovation Strategy. As part of this agenda, the university has plans to improve the quality of its research and outputs, grow research impact, engagement and commercialisation, double its research income by 2020 and increase onshore and offshore HDR enrolments and completions.

As our Reporting Analyst, you will be part of a team that undertakes research data collection, management and reporting plus systems support and development to develop business intelligence leading to deep insights that support the University research and innovation agenda and meets compliance requirements. Of these functions, you will be responsible for the administration and development of existing and planned research data management and reporting systems.

You will be expected to provide scripting, database development, system support and data quality assurance services to Swinburne Research. Your daily responsibilities will include data administration responsibilities, primarily for Swinburne Research’s main research data management system ‘Research Master’ (RM); these services are usually carried out in collaboration with Swinburne IT. You will also be expected to develop various reports and to assist with the conceptualisation and development of new systems or enhancements to existing systems, and to assist with solving data management and data reporting problems.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in information systems, business or computing with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/ or education and training.
  • Programming skills: Demonstrable knowledge or skills in programming and/or scripting language/s
  • Data skills: Proficiency in querying databases (including SQL) and manipulation and presentation of data
