About the Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility
The Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility is based at the Centre for Micro-Photonics, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (FSET). The Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility established under a grant from the Victoria Science Agenda and funding from Swinburne as part of the state of the art ATC building (completed in 2011).
The facility aims to develop the research strengths of the Centre and Faculty in directions of novel Nano-materials for optics and photonics, sensing, ultra-short laser science, and new construction and energy harvesting materials.
About the job
Working in the Facility, as our Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility Engineer you will be required to support and work with a team of researchers, postdocs and post and under-graduate students who are focusing on various research and industrial projects in which the Faculty is engaged.
Your primary responsibilities will be centred on the Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility, major equipment operation and maintenance and process development. You will be able to exercise your problem solving and technical skills to maintain and troubleshoot our equipment which includes mask aligners; electron-beam lithography; ion-beam lithography; critical point dryer; Electron Beam Evaporation PVD sputter coating; Reactive Ion plasma etching and ultra-fast laser fabrication.
Other responsibilities will include inducting prospective users of the Facility and supporting the ongoing training of users and the development of new processes. You will be expected from time to time to develop, and conduct practical fabrication tutoring for undergraduate, honours, project students and support commercialization initiatives and contribute to research papers and conference presentations.
The Facility is a clean room environment and you will be expected adhere to the OH&S requirements required.
