About the job
The purpose of the position of Exercise Science Technical Officer is to provide a high level of technical support within the dedicated laboratories to students both Undergraduate and Postgraduate as well as Academic and Research staff within the Faculty of Health Arts and Design.

The position works closely with the Manager Technical Services - Health, and academic staff within the discipline to ensure that training and support is provided in a timely manner for all laboratory requirements. This position provides accurate advice to the Manager Technical Services - Health and the Associate Director Technical Services concerning required purchases of new equipment and laboratory consumables. The incumbent will need to possess well-developed organizational, time management and problem solving skills, be extremely flexible, have the ability to use initiative and be responsive to the needs of those that the position directly supports.

The Exercise Science Technical officer will be required to utilize a large scope of skills including the use, maintenance and calibration of specialized exercise science laboratory equipment.

The Exercise Science Technical Officer is part of the Faculty technical services team, and will be required to work collaboratively with a range of staff and students across the Faculty.

Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• A relevant degree in exercise science, physiology or significant equivalent industry experience.
• Significant knowledge and demonstrated experience calibrating and maintaining exercise science equipment including, but not limited to, metabolic carts, ECG, ergometers, treadmills, strength and conditioning equipment, force plates, cameras.
• A good understanding of exercise testing including heart rate, oxygen uptake, lactate and glucose analysis.
