About the job

The primary focus of this opportunity will be assisting in the delivery of units within the Swinburne Advantage initiative. Working with other areas of University Engagement and the Higher Education Faculties, the incumbent will contribute to the development and delivery of academic units within professional placements, internships and Industry Study Tour units designed to improve employment and career outcomes for students. The incumbent will bring expertise to the role  ensure these units incorporate current theories and innovative career practices, and provide a program which prepares students for the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take a supporting role in designing, developing and delivering online and face-to-face teaching within Work Integrated Learning units of study, including professional placements, internships, Industry Study Tours and the Future Work Skills Unit.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, delivery and review of WIL units.  Apply a variety of best practice teaching and assessing methodology in a range of contemporary settings, in line with the department’s stated aims.
  • Assist in delivering work integrated learning and career education initiatives within the Office of Student Engagement.
  • Work closely in the Work Integrated Learning team and staff from other units within Swinburne to effect successful placement and management of students in work integrated learning units.
  • Promote the Swinburne’s courses and services to relevant students and establish and maintain effective industry contacts to enhance the development and delivery of educational activities, market competitiveness and reputation.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • An earned doctoral qualification or substantial progress toward a Doctoral qualification
  • Experience in tertiary teaching in areas relevant to Work integrated learning.  This includes a strong record of teaching, curriculum development and group facilitation and in organising student placements, internships and/or study tour programs
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality student engagement programs in a variety of learning modes that respond to a diverse range of student and client needs
