About the Aviation Department at Swinburn

Swinburne is a progressive university that aims to increase Australia’s capacity in science, technology and innovation as the drivers of modern, internationalised economies and workplaces. Our Aviation Department has more than 25 years track record of offering high-quality teaching and learning opportunities in piloting, safety and management. Due to ongoing expansion of the Department, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in one of the following areas: piloting, safety and accident investigation, human factors, and management.

About the job

As our Senior Lecturer, you will undertake research and teaching, as well as contribute to other appropriate professional activities within the Faculty. In your research, you will make an independent contribution to expand knowledge and add to the Faculty’s research excellence and impact in collaboration with external partner. You will contribute to the teaching programs of the Faculty, deliver executive education and consultancy, and assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties, including developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. Working with the broader department, you will be required to contribute to the daily running of the Faculty. You will be required to mentor and support students on academic matters, and supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • PhD in a discipline relevant to the Department of Aviation
  • A strong track record of research as evidenced by publications in high quality journals
  • Demonstrated expertise in the designated research discipline, with ability to carry out research projects, both independently and within a broader team
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively undertake teaching and associated administrative duties at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
