About the job
The appointee will fill a senior role within our Astronomy High-Performance Computing unit and will work closely with our Astronomy Data and Computing Services (ADACS) team. The role involves working on the research, design and development of large-scale distributed and/or data-intensive software applications. 
The appointee will be responsible for both server-side and front-end design and development. This includes:

• Designing and developing web-applications (using JS React, and Django)

• Designing and developing data-intensive server-side data analysis, processing, and visualization tools/modules (using Python, and C/C++)
• Co-Lead our continuous Delivery and DevOps processes.

The position will be based at Swinburne University of Technology which maintains a leading profile in supercomputing and related astronomical research through the activities of the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing. The position is funded through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Scheme (NCRIS).


Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Bachelor of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 
• Demonstrated experience in software development with skills in Linux/Unix, C/C++, Python and shell scripting
• Strong understanding of Object Oriented principles and design patterns
