About the job
Our Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology is currently looking for a Senior Technical Officer (Electrical/Instrumentation) to provide specialised technical support concerning electrical, electronics and instrumentation to our various disciplines and active research centres. Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, you will maintain an Electrical, Electronic & Instrumentation Workshop and provide the day-to-day management of nominated laboratories and facilities (including the Electrical Power, Electronics and Robotics & Mechatronics Teaching Laboratories). With your expertise, you will be able to support our students (undergraduate and post graduate) in their research endeavours. This will include inducting them into the lab and setting up their experiments. You will have the autonomy to self-manage and problem solve on a range of different tasks and activities.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

• A qualified Electrical Fitter/Mechanic, or Electrical Technician with a minimum 5 years relevant experience in electrical and electronic fields

• A current Victorian Restricted Electrical Workers Licence (REL) Class 1.

• Experience in the configuration, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, instrumentation, robotics and control systems, DC motors, single and 3 phase AC motors.

• Experience in workshop or laboratory operations including purchasing and preparation of electrical/electronic and robotics/mechatronic related items.
