About the job
The Department of Education at Swinburne University of Technology was recently established as a separate entity within the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design. Underpinning all research, teaching and knowledge exchange activity in the Department is a commitment to social justice and the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and groups in the communities we serve. This not only shapes the ethos in the Department, but also our engagement with stakeholders such as students and professional partners.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a specific focus on Early Childhood and/or Primary specialisations. This will include preparation and delivery of online material, tutorials, practical classes, clinical sessions and other active learning sessions to promote innovative, flexible and accessible learning environments.

As the successful candidate, you will have a demonstrated commitment for teaching with an enthusiasm for ensuring the highest quality educational experience for students.

Additionally, you will contribute to the research profile of the department by participating in research focused on Early Childhood and/or Primary Education.

Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• A Bachelor degree relevant to Early Childhood and/or Primary Education and a relevant Master’s degree.
• Completion of, or substantial progress towards a doctoral qualification.
• Excellent understanding of the trends and issues in Primary and/or Early Childhood education.
• A demonstrated capacity to build and maintain professional partnerships locally and, preferably, nationally in the primary and/or early childhood sector.
