About the job
Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral Research Associate position in observational studies of galaxy evolution at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing (CAS) at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne.

You will join the research group led by Prof. Ivo Labbé and have the opportunity to work within an international network of researchers focused on the formation of galaxies in the early universe. You will be expected to take advantage of the latest imaging and/or spectroscopic observations from HST/Keck/VLT/ALMA/Spitzer, while preparing for the arrival of the James Webb Space Telescope.

About Swinburne and the Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing
CAS is one of Australia's largest astronomy centers, providing a vibrant and international academic environment with about 20 faculty, 20 postdoctoral researchers, and 35 PhD students. Swinburne is one of few universities in the world with institutional access to the 10-m W.M. Keck telescopes in Hawaii, and our astronomers regularly obtain time at ESO/VLT, HST, Magellan, ATCA and Parkes telescopes. The Centre has OzSTAR, the Australian GPU Supercomputer for Theoretical Astrophysics, available in-house, as well as access to state-of-the-art 3D visualisation facilities.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

• A PhD in astronomy or astrophysics

• A strong track record of research in astronomy as demonstrated by publication

• Experience in handling astronomical data (e.g., optical/IR imaging, spectroscopy, and/or radio interferometry data).

• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work within a diverse team.

A full list of the selection criteria is available within the position description.
