About the job
We have currently have an opportunity for a Laser Laboratory Engineer to work within our Faculty of Science Engineering and Technology (FSET) to provide support for the lasers and associated equipment. This role will be primarily based in the Centre for Micro Photonics (CMP) facility as well as other laser labs throughout the Faculty of Science and Engineering Technology for researchers from across Swinburne as well as external users. Providing your expertise, you will support the use of a suite of lasers across the Research and Teaching Facilities maintaining our compliance with AU/NZ Laser Safety Standards and fulfilling the functions of a certified Laser Safety Officer. You will be responsible for the operation, management, and maintenance of existing lasers, installation of and operation and management of current and future systems. 

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

• A PhD or BSc degree with proven relevant experience; or extensive experience and expertise in technical and administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

• Demonstrated experience working with high-end laser equipment, ultrafast fs lasers and instrumentation

• Experience in laser alignment, maintenance, laboratory processes and safety.
