About the Group

RMIT’s Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers to help shape the world.  Part of the Research and Innovation Portfolio is the School of Graduate Research (SGR) which supports graduates to drive innovation and contribute to excellent research outcomes. This area manages the candidature lifecycle from admission to examination.  SGR provides services for scholarships, candidature, quality assurance, and a suite of career and professional development programs to enrich the experience of our research candidates and our Higher Degree by Research (HDR) supervisors.

About the role

The Senior Coordinator, Candidate Experience is part of the HDR Strategy and Policy team and is responsible for programs and activities designed to support and enhance the HDR candidate experience.  This role will collaborate with different areas within RMIT and will manage a breadth of activities including: leading the ongoing development of the co-curricular skills training program (PhD Up); contributing to a university-wide project to redevelop the HDR curriculum; and coordinating university-wide orientation programs for new candidates.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing opportunities to enhance the career readiness of HDR candidates.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:?

  • Clear understanding of and experience with graduate research in the context of Australian higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to form effective working relationships and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to harness opportunities and deliver on a common objective.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver strategic business cases, web content and online communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a team, supervise staff, and balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret a wide range of information, including benchmarking and identifying trends, and applying this analysis to the institutional context as part of developing strategies and operational plans.
  • Proven ability to innovate by identifying opportunities, designing, and implementing new programs and initiatives in a complex environment.
  • Extensive experience in providing high-quality service and support, and a track record in undertaking broad and targeted consultation.
