About You

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Campus Planning, you will be the primary point of contact for the provision of all planning and project-related property services for designated University stakeholders. You will collaboratively work with the stakeholder leadership team to develop and deliver on the property agenda priorities.

You will proactively identify and analyse client needs and develop or source solutions to deliver on business objectives; driving outcomes for stakeholders, connecting necessary activities across multiple Property Services teams and providing effective communication with key stakeholders.

You will lead the strategic assessment and planning components of projects including concept planning, options development, feasibility assessments and brief delivery.  

Success in this position will include:

  • Substantial relevant experience in a similar Higher Educational Institution.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the proven ability to build effective and productive relationships with a diverse range of people internal and external to the University.
  • Ability to deliver and support results-oriented client service, demonstrated through successful experience in partnering with senior stakeholders to achieve business objectives through the strategic property agenda.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of space allocation, planning and management activities.
  • Demonstrated project initiation experience in complex environments, including the ability to translate strategy into tangible projects and contribute to the planning, options development, feasibility assessment and brief development of significant strategy, infrastructure and operational elements.
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding of a property project lifecycle from conception to final delivery.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in architecture (highly desirable), planning engineering, project management or a related field preferred.

About the Group

Property Services is located in the Operations portfolio which is the services nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people development infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the University.

Property Services has approximately 100 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical facilities services.

The Group has an operating budget in excess of $80M and prospective capital projects of over $50M per annum for the next few years in Melbourne and Vietnam. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 110 buildings in Melbourne spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.

Property Services consists of the following branches:

  • Facilities and Asset Management
  • Capital Works
  • Campus Planning and Services (including Timetable Services)
  • Reporting & Compliance
