About The Role

Role Location: 839 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008

Role Type: Permanent – Full Time

This is an important role as a senior person within the ANZ Financial Crime Coverage team. The Coverage team (working  with stakeholders across the Business, Intelligence, Investigations, Analytics and Governance areas) drives our design and implementation approach to risk based detection (i.e. Monitoring & Screening), ensuring that the detection controls are designed appropriately to detect, mitigate and manage financial crime risks.

Our goal is to achieve effective financial crime control risk coverage through a focus on detection controls being designed appropriately, and being commensurate with the financial crime risk that ANZ faces. Specifically, the team is responsible for identifying, documenting, recommending and overseeing the implementation of detection coverage strategies. This includes assessment of external and internal risk, threat, investigation and control inputs such as Regulator reports and actions, Industry Typologies, Enterprise, Customer, Product and Channel risk assessments, Control effectiveness reviews, Investigator feedback and then recommending detection control enhancements/adjustments where required.

Reporting to the Financial Crime Coverage Lead, the successful candidate will possess a passion to understand and analyse financial crime risks and recommend effective detection strategies that align to the organisational values

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong Financial Crime experience with a detailed understanding of Monitoring & Screening Programs (i.e. “What good looks like”)
  • Deep understanding of ML/TF typologies and related controls coupled with a strong passion to design and drive sound detection coverage strategies
  • Good analytical skills and proven ability to assess detection controls based on risk based qualitative and quantitative inputs
  • Ability to apply design thinking methodologies and proven ability to drive innovative control solutions to address ML/TF risks effectively
  • Strong verbal, written and numeracy communication skills with proven ability to document and drive decisions on detection coverage strategies
  • Desire to work collaboratively with stakeholders and be able to build strong relationships both internally and externally.  
  • Leadership skills including driving outcomes in cross functional teams
  • Some experience with data analytics tools/outcomes (R, Phython, SQL etc.)
