About The Role

Role Location: Melbourne\Sydney

Market Surveillance is a global function within Markets Risk that brings together all aspects of regulatory and financial crime risk management. We are a second line function who work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help ANZ anticipate and navigate the forever changing regulatory environment.

You are to conduct independent reviews for potential market manipulation and trading misconduct & will be required to lead or collaborate on various regulatory responses and projects and provide training for junior members of the team.

You will be responsible for driving the next generation of data analytics via the implementation of controls using machine learning detection methods (K-Means, PCA, ARIMA, NLP). This includes responsibility for ensuring the controls are fit-for-purpose upon reaching a production state.

Your key priorities and responsibilities include:

  • Develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both locally and international. Including but not limited to Compliance, Market Risk, First line, Technology leads, Project teams, internal and external audit / legal teams.
  • Subject Matter Expert for regulatory notices and internal Investigations.
  • Technology Product Owner for strategic data analytics platforms, ensuring collaboration and discipline within the ANZ NWOW model.
  • Good understanding of Big Data Technology Infrastructure and the Industry landscape
  • Drive uplift for Markets Risk culture as a member of the Markets Risk Leadership Team
  • Chair for ANZ Global Surveillance Governance Forum 

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Deep understanding of Markets Product knowledge, prior proven expertise or experience in trade surveillance, trading or risk management.         
  • Strong quantitative skillset - data analysis and insights, reporting with knowledge of data science techniques an advantage
  • Experience in leading large diverse teams. Must have strong self-awareness, team-oriented approach to problem-solving and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment preferably with some international experience    
  • Process driven to ensure the governance framework remains robust to meet regulatory requirements
  • Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and be able to relay complex technical concept to non-technical audience. Strong attention to detail. High ethical standards, respect for confidentiality and privacy.
  • Good understanding of global regulations eg MIFID, MAR, FX Global Code, Aus. Corp Act, ASX Market Integrity Rules         
  • Business, Computer Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics Tertiary Qualified
