About RMIT Training 

RMIT Training Pty Ltd is a company, owned by RMIT University, based in Melbourne, Australia. We provide a range of education solutions to students, academics and professionals in Melbourne and overseas. Our English Testing centre offers IELTS and PTE tests. We offer English language training with CELTA and Aviation English products. We deliver pathway programs that enable students to articulate into Bachelor programs at university; these include Foundation Studies and Academic English programs. 

 

About the role 

The Application Develop is responsible for actively participating in the design, development, testing and implementation of web-based applications, such as the company’s intranet, content management systems and websites. In addition, in this role you will assist with the maintenance, enhancement and ongoing development of RMIT Training’s commercial product range.  

This role is expected to work collaboratively with other Programmers/Developers and project team members to share knowledge, resolve issues and ensure delivery of products to schedule and quality and functional specifications.

About you  

To be successful in this role you will have:   

Essential 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification 
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a professional services environment 
  • Commercial programming experience with ASP.NET, C# and PHP 
  • Proficiency in cloud platform such as Azure and AWS 
  • Knowledge of relational technology and skills in developing and using Structured Query Language (SQL) to create Stored Procedures, Triggers and indexes in Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL 
  • Sound experience and skills developing, maintaining and deploying web-based applications using XML, XSL, JavaScript, jQuery, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) 
  • Demonstrated experience using full-term software development lifecycle, including the use of a revision control system such as Bitbucket, SVN 
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practice development methodologies 
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications systems and technologies 
  • Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills  
  • Well-developed communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders at all organisational levels 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines and perform under pressure, while maintaining high attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate and work effectively as part of a team 
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality control and continuous improvement 

 

Desirable 

  • Understanding of workflow of Learning Management Systems, such as CANVAS 
  • Proven experience working with CANVAS API 
  • Experience in TeraText Ace programming language 
  • Programming experience with classic ASP Understanding of common Web Application security threats 
  • Experience in identifying and analysing scan report produced by security scanner such as Nessus, Acunetix 
  • Experience in creating security process and procedure to avoid web vulnerabilities
