Specialist Homelessness Services SHS Youth of Uniting provides crisis supported accommodation with case management, for people aged 16-24 years old, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our services provide 24/7 onsite support and assistance with education, employment, referral into counselling services, health services, living skills and parenting programs.

  • 2 Full time + 2 Part time positions. Shift work in Parramatta area

Role Overview:

The Youth Worker role is to support young people, transition into more stable accommodation and support services, and offer referral to medical services, increase confidence and self-esteem through supporting them during their time in our crisis accommodation program.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To assist with intake and assessment, and the development and monitoring of individual case plans for consumers, based on Specialist Homelessness Services Practice Guidelines.
  • Coordination of model of care and maintain contact with consumers at risk of disengagement from services and the community
  • Assist with the monitoring and review of case plans with case manager/coordinator 

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within relevant field and/or study equivalent
  • Certificate 4 in community services, mental health, youth work, or working towards
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, setting priorities and being able to plan and organise workflows
  • Able to provide administration support to senior staff
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of the larger team and a demonstrated ability to work with Youth using a strengths-based approach
  • Knowledge of best practice for Specialist Homelessness Services
  • Demonstrated engagement with complex clients
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with other professionals to develop partnerships and referral pathways
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Unrestricted Driver’s License
