About the role 

Reporting to the Associate Director Creative Industries,  the Program Manager will provide strategic Learning and Teaching (L&T) leadership within the program industry cluster focusing on critical priorities of design, development, delivery and evaluation of teaching materials, products and services. They will provide leadership of multiple programs, engage with multiple stakeholders to provide strategic direction, academic and operational leadership to teaching teams, ensuring that students are well prepared for work and future studies.

The role requires an engaging and inspiring leader, who will build a team culture committed to excellence, supporting them to challenge the status quo and create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The Program Manager will lead the implementation of projects and cross-functional initiatives, managing complex operational issues, and building capability and succession within the team through effective and proactive workforce planning and management of productivity and performance. The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as with teaching, technical support and administration staff is key to this role. In addition, the role will ensure programs apply to the university requirements and are compliant to all regulatory specifications.

About you 
 
As Program Manager Screen, Media & Digital Media Technology, you will have the ability to create and lead a high performing team using contemporary leadership skills that effectively empower and motivate team members. You will bring your educational leadership experience and experience in operational management, planning cycles, financial management and continuous improvement processes.

Key to the role will be your ability to lead product review cycles and develop continuous improvement strategies and critically analyse information. You will be required to make recommendations to senior leaders and implement initiative's under minimal supervision.  It is expected that you have a sound knowledge and understanding of the vocational education and training sector and the requirements of quality and compliance related to programs.  You will bring strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships and to facilitate and present to varied audiences.

Qualifications 

Vocational Education Teachers are required to meet all the following minimum standards.

  • Vocational Competencies (The appointee must be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level of those delivered).
  • Assessment and Delivery Competencies
  • The appointee must hold:

    TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or

    TAE40110 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus the following units:

    • TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A and
    • TAEASS502 or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B as a minimum qualification
    • Teaching Qualification

    To appoint a teacher at a classification of Teacher 3.1 or above, the appointee must hold a professional teaching qualification, defined as a qualification at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 Diploma or above which includes supervised teaching practice and studies in teaching methodology or equivalent qualification accepted by the University.

    Currently the qualification that RMIT recognises and supports is the TAE50111 Diploma of VET.
