About the Job
The global market for biotechnology, medical, and assistive devices and services continues to expand with Victoria leading the way in new product development. There is a market for laboratory, clinic and patient focused devices, but getting ideas validated both clinically and technically, prototyped and then to affordable, local manufacture is challenging. Swinburne aims to fill the gaps in Victoria’s pipeline by building a new facility for the co-creation of assistive technologies, delivering programs to support the digitalisation of the MedTech and Pharmaceutical sector and the development of clinicians with product development skills alongside applied research and development projects that will span design, AR/VR, automation, digital manufacturing, and clinical activities.

The Research Fellow in Robotics and Automation for MedTech will join our multidisciplinary team and lead new industry and end-user focused projects spanning biotechnology, assistive technology, and manufacturing. The successful applicant will be able to apply their research knowledge and know-how to solve challenges associated with the implementation of new technologies into people’s lives be it work, social or recreational pursuits. The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to join and develop projects with industry and community groups and led the co-creation of solutions with end users and future customers.

This is an exciting role for someone who wants to explore the interface between research, industry and product development and commercial outcomes.
