About the role

The Senior Roster Officer is a critical role in the effective and sustainable management of our workforce. The role coordinates the rostering team to organise and allocate work and provides higher level advice to Roster Officers.

This role is responsible for coordinating and optimising the available workforce; utilising rostering and scheduling systems to best meet customer requirements and promotes a sustainable workforce in compliance with award and legislative requirements.

You will need strong interpersonal skills and a good understanding of the role of a frontline support worker, couple with fantastic problem-solving skills and a logical mindset. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work with key stakeholders to understand NDIS plans, service agreements and participant needs prior to development of schedules and rosters
  • Build positive relationships through engagement with key stakeholders
  • Respond to and liaise with key stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Develop ‘best fit’ schedules for participants and optimise rosters for workers and the program
  • Respond to ad hoc changes required by participants and workers by adjusting schedules and systems and communicating with key stakeholders daily
  • Monitor and audit rosters and schedules entered by Roster Officers to ensure that support is delivered to customers that reflects their NDIS plan, service agreements and that these are in accordance with relevant business principles, legislation and agreements
  • Where required, monitor and adjust planned rosters and schedules, based on the NDIS plans, service agreements, customer feedback and complaints
  • In consultation with the supervisor or manager, allocate work within the rostering team
  • Promote a positive environment by working cooperatively, demonstrating good communication and interpersonal skills and appropriate peer support with an ability to flex across other roster locations to assist during peak period’s
  • Coach, support and supervise Roster Officers

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in administration / business studies or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of workforce management principles, health and safety, industrial instruments and roster optimisation
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to build a shared understanding of, and commitment to the organisation’s Purpose and Values
  • The ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with a range of stakeholders to optimise a best fit workforce for participants
  • Ability to support organisation-wide initiatives that support Life Without Barriers’ Purpose and Values
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to use Data Bases and Microsoft Office suite of programs, for example Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills with an ability to think laterally and use initiative
     

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NDIS Screening Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
