The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Swinburne is a multi-disciplinary research centre that strives toward positive social change through improving the systemic and organisational conditions that shape communities. This is an opportunity to undertake global standard social impact research at part of the world’s largest social economy research centre.

The Centre for Social Impact is currently offering a three-year PhD scholarship to support an outstanding candidate to work on a topic related to inclusive regional economies. Potential topics include but are not limited to the social economy, community economic development, and social enterprise in rural regional settings, and will be negotiated with senior academic staff and, potentially, one or more industry partners.

The successful candidate will be based at the Centre for Social Impact Swinburne’s RegionxLink Program offices in Burnie, Tasmania, or elsewhere by negotiation.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• A Bachelor degree with honours and/or a research master’s degree with H1 or 2A equivalence in a relevant social science or business discipline.
• Strong academic writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and capacity to interact with diverse groups of people; experience working in rural and regional areas is highly desirable.
• Skills, experience and willingness to undertake practical research that meets industry needs.
• International candidates must meet minimum English language requirements.
