About the Role

The ACE AfterCare Program provides leaving care and aftercare services to young people aged between 15 to 24yrs who have been in formal Out of Home. This role will be responsible for the provision of a responsive, flexible, client focused outreach casework service to support the transition to independence for young people residing in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven region.

This role is a permanent part time opportunity, encompassing 3 days per week working from 9am-5pm. Flexibility of days you want to work is on offer.

About You: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences and/or a minimum of 3 years casework experience in Out of Home Care, Child Protection or Child/Youth/Family services.
  • Understanding the needs of young people leaving Care or who have recently left Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with people using a strengths-based approach and make sound decisions about the extent and timeliness of the support required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an independent, self-directed, flexible manner.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and travel within the region to meet the needs of young people as required; which may include overnight stays.
  • Medium level proficiency in MS Office (particularly MS Word and Excel); ability to utilise email functions.
  • Current drivers licence to transport young people and children if and when required.

Even Better: 

  • Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) young people and organisations.
  • Experience in assisting service users address multiple barriers in a solution focussed and trauma informed practice.
