About the role

Reporting to the State Lead Centralised Intake, Placement Coordination and Carer Processes you will manage a small team which are the first point of contact for all external placement referrals, they are also responsible for supporting the coordination of all internal placement movements and visibility of carers without current placements.

Your primary responsibility is for effective placement matching and carer availability. You will work in partnership with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), all external service providers and LWB managers and staff including the Contract Management team, the Carer Assessment and Engagement team and other LWB teams.

This is a permanent full time role, location flexible within New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model and lead the required work environment, culture and systems and processes of the Intake and placement team to meet business outcomes whilst promoting the best interests of children and young people.
  • Monitor, coach, support, motivate and develop team members to enable them to perform to the best of their ability.
  • Work in partnership with operations teams to implement and promote best practice in service delivery within the parameters of LWB policies and procedures
  • Provide advice and practical assistance to Managers and team members on application and implementation of intake placement matching policy and procedures.
  • Liaise and build strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) regarding immediate response and planned services, during office hours, to assist in identifying a suitable placement

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary Qualifications in Community Services and or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding of the demands and challenges facing carers in providing care to children and young people, in Out of Home Care placements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Permanency Support Program and Department of Communities & Justice referral processes.
  • An ability to work collaboratively and build strong, authentic and supportive working relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies
  • High level verbal communication, interpersonal, liaison, negotiation and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
