About the Scholarship
Swinburne’s newly launched initiative, Medical Technology Victoria (MedTechVic), works to support and connect individuals and organisations across the assistive and medical device sector in Victoria, ensuring rapid clinical and technical, prototyping and manufacturing of new ideas. Our goal is to bring together individuals with lived disability, their carers, allied health and clinical professionals, engineers, designers and industry to co-create products and services that enhance lives.

To helps us achieve our goals MedTechVIC is offering a Masters in Law Scholarship to consider the responsible use of data, generated by medical technology, when the individual from whom it is obtained is cognitively or physically impaired to the extent that consent cannot be personally provided, nor responsible use monitored.

Legal aspects that may be relevant to this study include:
  • Data and privacy regulation in health and medical settings;
  • Consumer protection regulation, including product safety;
  • General law aspects of consent, agency and mental capacity;
  • Law and technology.

About You
You will be interested in working at the interface between technology, society, businesses and law and be driven to undertake solution focused research as part of a broader team. The ideal candidate is expected to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with a demonstrable aptitude for research and development.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
  • Research and/or work experience relevant to the project
  • Good team-working, observational and communication skills.

Qualifications
A Bachelor of Laws degree, or equivalent law degree
