About the Role
As the Postdoctoral Researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on an NHMRC research project focused on machine learning applications which has the potential to provide a framework for biomedical findings in immunology that could lead to new MedTech opportunities.

In this role, you will develop methods for automated tracking and segmentation of fluorescence time lapse microscopy images of T cells. The project will involve improving upon existing in-house software, benchmarking its accuracy against other state-of-the-art methods, making the application interface accessible to non-experts, and documenting the pipeline.

To be successful for this role, you must have received or be close to receiving a PhD and have experience in applying deep learning methods to cell imaging, and will be expected to publish journal articles and present your work at national and international conferences.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in neural networks and knowledge in T cell biology and imaging.
  • Ability to design and conduct independent research projects within a broader overall team environment, to identify complementary expertise and initiate appropriate collaborations, and to analyse the state of areas of technology from publications and patents.
  • A track record of publications in relevant areas and a demonstration of ongoing research activities within that field.
  • Proven ability to plan and conduct research and to analyse and communicate research outcomes - demonstrated publication record.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications
  • PhD in machine learning for biological applications
