About the Role
We are seeking a suitably qualified Senior Research Contracts Manager to join us in the Research Contracts and Grants Management team in Swinburne Research Services.

As the Senior Research Contracts Manager, you will lead a small team responsible for the drafting, review, negotiation and administration of research contracts and funding agreements. In this capacity, you will also oversee the improvement of processes and systems to assess contractual risk and the development of standard legal research agreement templates. In addition, you will take direct responsibility for the project management of the legal component of significant, high-value projects to be conducted at the University, and deliver high quality, responsive legal advice.

The role sits in the Research Contracts and Grants Management team in Swinburne Research Services and has two direct reports.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience with drafting, reviewing and negotiating research contracts and other research-related agreements.
  • Proven ability in providing strategic advice on commercial, legal, and other issues surrounding contractual relationships and representing the organisation effectively in negotiations with third parties.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with proven ability to ensure effective prioritization of completion of multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Management and leadership experience, including capacity to initiate, lead and manage change in response to an evolving environment.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training is essential.
  • Completion of a law degree or equivalent qualification with experience is highly desirable.
