Disability Support Worker. Casual - Mudgee

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disabilities in Mudgee. The assistance you will be required to provide will differ on the support needs of each client, however, experience with personal care, manual handling, medication assistance and behaviour support with clients of high behaviours of concern will be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of our Supported Independent Living services, you will need to be able to work flexibly across a 24/7 roster including sleepovers and active overnight shifts. This opportunity allows you to structure your work schedule to fit your needs whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance. 

Key Responsibilities

• Support clients with daily personal care such as bathing, shaving and toileting
• Provide support to clients with high behaviours 
• Provide mobility assistance by lifting, transferring and hoisting clients
• Follow person-centred active support plans and behaviour support plans respectfully
• Help clients reach their goals through meaningful activities of their choice
• Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and your team
• Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant

Skills & Experience

• An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
• Hold a Certificate IV in Disability or Cert IV in Mental Health will be highly regarded
• Experience with mental health and behavioural clients
• Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays
• Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
• A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
