About the role:

A unique and rewarding opportunity to join Box Hill Institute onsite within our Educational Office at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) in Ravenhall as our LLN Administrator!
This opportunity is part time Monday to Friday 9am-12pm) until June 2024.

The Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Administrator is responsible for providing a broad range of administrative support to ensure the successful delivery of high quality Nationally Recognised Training programs to the Corrections Victoria (CV) prisons project located in Barwon North West Region.

You will be assisting in the effective administration of learner enrolment and records. This involves:

  • Administration of the computer based Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment tool and the completion of documentation that is required in this process.
  • Preparation and data entry of learners’ records information on the student management system
  • Coordination of enrolment and assessment paperwork and processes
  • Ensure all student enrolments and relevant paperwork, in particular exits, exemptions, and withdrawal forms, are completed and filed in a timely manner
  • Work closely with administrative teams across the Corrections Victoria’s project sites and regions to ensure consistency of training delivery administration and processes
  • Report any OHS incidents and arrange first aid treatment as required.
  • Adhere to the strict security regime, protocols and confidentiality requirements of Corrections Victoria

This position is required to develop and maintain effective working relationships with teaching and professional employees, stakeholders within the Prison sites and local communities within the region.

Note: This role is located within a prison environment and teachers will be alone with student groups made up of prisoners. You will be employed by Box Hill Institute however working onsite at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), in Ravenhall.


About You:

  • A relevant qualification in Office Administration or AQF5 qualification, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting a range of administrative services including; student and reporting administration and data entry.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word and other Microsoft Office applications
  • A self-starter, plus the ability to take pro-active steps and a commitment to continuously improve services
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to self-manage workload
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, in particular the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with people from diverse backgrounds and across all levels of the organisation
  • Ability and confidence to work onsite and in the presence of students within the prison environment
