If you are seeking a meaningful role in Disability Support, here is your opportunity to make a difference. We have a casual position and permanent position available in our Lifestyle and Community program in Broken Hill.   

About the role

This opportunity presents a demanding yet deeply fulfilling prospect for you to make a positive change in the lives of people with disability. Experience working independently with complex disability support needs including non-verbal, varying levels of physical aggression and behaviours of concerns will be highly regarded. We are looking for applicants with 40+ hours availability per fortnight.

Here at Life Without Barriers, our goal is to support people in their day-to-day lives by empowering our clients to find their strengths and build their capacity to live independently. The cornerstone of our approach is to assist in the delivery of services that facilitate client’s development of social networks and encourage community activities in line with LWB policies and procedures. Activities should be focused on increasing awareness of healthy lifestyle options and reducing social isolation.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with complex disability support needs including non-verbal, escalations with aggressive behaviours and behaviours of concerns will be highly regarded
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates as per NDIS requirements or willingness to obtain
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NDIS and Working with Children Checks (where relevant to the role).
