About the Role

Support 5 males between the ages of 40-63 with disability living in St Marys who are looking for a support worker who is versatile, passionate about providing active support, has exceptional communication and can follow structured routine.

The people you will support are all quite independent, including all having their own flats with kitchen, bedroom and living space and accessing the community individually and so, the successful candidate must have experience in active support, following individual plans and building positive relationships with the people they are supporting as well as their family.

The successful candidate will often work individually so will need to be someone who has a broad range of support experience including mental health, acquired brain injury, autism and schizophrenia.


Permanent Part Time position, applicants must be able to commit to the below set roster of 13 hours per fortnight:

    • Week 1: No rostered shifts
    • Week 2: Tue 6-11am, Wed 7-11am and Fri 4-8pm

Note, additional hours may be available in this SIL home or others in the Greater Western Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains area.

Joining our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team, you will support people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster.

  • Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
  • Maintain thorough record keeping
  • Build positive relationships with clients, families and colleagues
  • Advocate for client choice and control

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with people with disability
  • Confidence in working with challenging behaviours
  • Personal care experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow behaviour support plans, policy and procedures
  • An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and obtain an NDIS Clearance.

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
