About the Role 
Swinburne Student Life are seeking a Senior Advocacy Officer to join the team to deliver high-quality Advocacy Service to all Swinburne students.

As the Senior Advocacy Officer, you will oversee the provision of independent advice and advocacy on behalf of students and the resolution of student concerns in line with University policies and procedures and deliver quality customer service. 

In this role, you will also lead a small team of specialist advocacy officers and will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the advocacy function. This will include fostering self-management of student inquiries, actively managing complex student matters, and training and coaching the Officers to support their ongoing professional development.

The successful applicant will be a subject matter expert in the field of Student Advocacy and be able to provide evidence-informed advice and leadership to the University in the development of best practice policy and procedures as they apply to tertiary education delivery and service provision. 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in Student Advocacy in a tertiary education environment.
  • Experience in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of specialist practitioners.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes through leadership in the following areas: outstanding customer service, evidence-informed practice and technology-enabled approaches to service provision.
  • High level interpersonal skills and well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate across all levels in a complex organisation.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar software platforms is preferred. 

Qualifications
  • A bachelor degree level qualification in a relevant discipline with at least 4 years of subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
