About the Role
We have an exciting Leadership opportunity for a Business Intelligence Manager at Swinburne.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager is a senior position tasked with establishing and managing the university's reporting and data visualisation functions using Microsoft Power BI. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying reporting solutions tailored to the needs of various users, from academic staff to senior management, while promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making.
The BI Manager will lead a team of BI developers, manage and maintain the Power BI environment to ensure it is scalable and secure and ensure compliance with data governance policies. Collaboration with other teams is essential for integrating Power BI with the university's data architecture, supporting both enterprise-level and specialised reporting. The BI Manager will need to engage with senior stakeholders and understand and balance multiple priorities to deliver outcomes to the university to drive impact.
This is an essential role within the IT team, as the BI Manager will set processes and guidelines to balance the needs of citizen developers and enterprise reporting, ensuring consistency and quality in reporting outputs across the university. This role aims to maximize the value of data assets to support Swinburne university's strategic goals and improve operational efficiency.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for reporting and data visualisation using Microsoft Power BI.
Align the strategy with the universitys goals, ensuring that reporting outputs support decision-making at all levels.
Continuously assess and refine the strategy to adapt to emerging needs and technologies.
Lead and manage a team of BI developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality output
Oversee the administration and optimisation of the Power BI environment, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
Have up to date knowledge of MS Power BI and the current knowledge of developing dashboards
Ensure all reporting activities adhere to university data governance policies and procedures, maintaining data integrity and security.
Engage with university stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and ensure that BI solutions meet their needs
Leading or being part of a large-scale data migration projects

Qualifications
Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Professional certifications in BI tools or related areas are highly desirable.
Knowledge of DAX and creation of semantic models for Power BI
