About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing active supports to people living with disabilities on the Central Coast. Our Lifestyle Program consists of 2 day programs (located in Tuggerah & West Gosford) and also supports clients within the community.

Day Program caters to the interests and abilities of our clients and often includes social outings, recreational and leisure activities whilst encouraging positive social participation and community integration. Shifts will be during daytime hours Monday to Friday.

Lifestyle and community consists of one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or the community, with travel between clients and working short, split shifts required operating 7 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients through personal care, manual handling, behaviour support and high medical needs
  • Assist clients reach their goals through meaningful activities of their choice
  • Work under minimal supervision and make appropriate judgement calls ensuring client wellbeing is upheld
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and your team
  • Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant
  • Complete administration tasks such as progress notes and as directed by management
  • Willing to travel within the Central Coast region to support our participants

Skills & Experience

  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to drive 10 seater van used to commute clients to activities
  • Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Please note: To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
