About the Role
Swinburne University is seeking a dynamic and creative Research Communications Officer to join the Research Communications and Outreach team within the Swinburne Research portfolio. Reporting to the Manager, Research Communications, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and amplify the voice of Swinburnes Research Ecosystem.
In this role, you will implement and support a wide range of communication and outreach initiatives that highlight the work of Swinburnes Research Institutes, Research Hubs, Research Platforms, and Research Services. Your primary focus will be creating engaging and impactful content for diverse channels, ensuring the alignment of messaging with Swinburnes broader communication strategy. This includes website and intranet updates, crafting professional communications tailored for various audiences, and identifying opportunities for external promotion. Additionally, you will design compelling digital and print marketing materials and support outreach activities that showcase the universitys research achievements.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with Research Hub, Institute, and Platform Directors, as well as Swinburnes Communications, Media, and Marketing teams, to maintain cohesive branding and messaging across internal and external platforms. By bringing your expertise in research communications, you will contribute to elevating Swinburnes reputation as a leader in innovation and research excellence.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Experience in the development and implementation of internal and external communication strategies.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate information in a clear manner, draft correspondence, respond to ad-hoc requests for information and advice, well-developed editing, and proof-reading skills.
- Strong experience in using Website Content Management Systems to performance website updates effectively. Adobe Experience Manager experience highly regarded.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines in the context of conflicting priorities and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment without compromising attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in the coordination of large-scale event management, bookings, budget management and promotions.
Qualifications
A degree in a relevant field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. e.g. Communication Design or Media, Communication or Marketing
