About the Role
As an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant, you will provide personalised home care support to older Australians who reside in Cairns, to assist them in remaining living independently in their own home. Occasional travel will be required, with distances of up to 45 minutes to support clients across the region, however the majority of work will be in Cairns Central and Southern Cairns. We have two permanent part time positions available. Hours will be between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work and no evening or sleepover shifts. Flexible hours are available and can be tailored to suit school hours or other commitments if required.
Key Responsibilities
Domestic assistance duties. This consists of light cleaning duties, changing of bed linen, washing/laundry
In-home supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living
Social supports inclusive of support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, building/maintaining social networks
Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc)
Skills & Experience
Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or similar) or?prior industry experience is preferred?
Passionate about making a positive impact in our ageing community
An Australian Drivers Licence and ownership of a reliable registered vehicle
Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment)
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check.
