About the Role 
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our world-class research team at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing (CAS) at Swinburne University of Technology. This 3-year position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research in galaxy formation and evolution, with a focus on the origins of Dark Galaxies, Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs) and extreme low-mass galaxies in a range of environments. Opportunities will be available to supervise postgraduate students and to conduct independent research. 

In this role, you will collaborate with Professors Duncan Forbes, Jean Brodie, and Warrick Couch, contributing to ARC-funded research to support the project to better understand extreme galaxy formation and evolution.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in relevant astronomical analysis projects.
  • A strong track record of publications in astronomical journals.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Experience with optical integral field unit data is desirable.

Qualifications
  • A PhD in Astronomy or relevant field.

About CAS
CAS is one of Australia's largest astronomy research centres, with 25 academic staff, 20 postdoctoral researchers and 40 PhD students. Swinburne astronomers have institutional access to the Keck telescopes (20 nights/year), and a 10-year partnership with ESO. CAS also hosts a GPU-based Supercomputer. Melbourne is a cosmopolitan city with a mild climate and many cultural and sporting events. CAS is located in the diverse inner suburb of Hawthorn with excellent public transport connections.
