About the Role

The purpose of the Intake Officer - Child, Youth & Family (CYF) is to coordinate the referral, matching and placement process for children and young people referred to LWB in our CYF programs across Queensland. The Intake Officer will be crucial in our responsiveness for young people placed in both our family based and non-family-based programs.

This position is being offered as permanent full-time working remotely from home. This position can be based anywhere in QLD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and appropriately document placement matching processes and liaise with stakeholders to gather further information to inform placement matching.
  • Manage requests from funding body, ensuring process is followed and all necessary documentation is received and completed according to LWB policies and procedures.
  • Manage additional funding applications regarding any enhanced or additional placement funding required at the referral stage or for additional services.
  • Ensure relevant area staff are appropriately consulted about all placement referrals both internally and externally to ensure matching processes are adhered to, including but not limited to Operational Managers, Cultural Support Planners, Therapeutic Practitioners and Carer Assessment and Engagement staff.
  • Support carers in the initial steps of providing care for new young people placed in their care.
  • Collect and document information relating to the child or young person in order to comprehensively assess placement matching and service allocation.
  • facilitate the placement entry of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children or young people in line with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Placement Principles.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree. The preferred minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s in Social work, Social Welfare and Psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing placement risk and matching young people placed in Family Based or Residential care.
  • Knowledge of the QLD Child Protection system.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the impacts of abuse, neglect, separation from families and complex trauma on children and young people in out of home care.
  • Demonstrated skills in using client information data bases and recording systems.
  • Ability to use initiative in the workplace and demonstrate a high level of autonomy and problem-solving skills.
  • Current Drivers Licence.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
