About the Role
We are looking for a Student Finance and Housing Advisor to join our Student Equity team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide guidance and support to current students regarding financial and housing services, as well as offer information and referrals to resources within Swinburne and external service providers.
In this role, you will deliver advice and information through various channels, including targeted resources, seminars/webinars, individual appointments, and case management. You will also assess applications for student emergency grants and loans, ensuring alignment with the Universitys Support for Students policies. By contributing to Swinburnes efforts in student success and retention, this position plays a key role in supporting the overall wellbeing and academic journey of our students.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of disadvantage and experience in providing information, assistance and case work to students living in complex circumstances
- Extensive experience in financial assessment, knowledge on tenancy, equity and financial issues including a working knowledge of NDIS and Centrelink processes
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, multidisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders including participation in relevant networks
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to tailor information and communication style to suit the audience eg. staff, vulnerable and distressed students, internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications
A degree in a human service and or financial related discipline with extensive relevant experience in a tertiary or community setting; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
