Salary
Fixed term, parental leave cover position (June 2026) at our Hawthorn campus. This is a full- time role but is open to part-time/job-share applications.


About the Role 
The Swinburne University of School of Health Sciences are looking for a Registered Nurse to join their team.

As the Clinical Research Nurse, you will be responsible for the wellbeing of clinical trial participants and will assist with the day-to-day running of research projects within the School of Health Sciences. Working both autonomously and as part of the broader research team, this role is responsible for performing clinical procedures including blood and other biological sample collection and assessment, vital sign monitoring, adverse event monitoring, and data collection and entry.

In addition, you will monitor participant behaviour and wellbeing and assist with medical interventions, and the management of investigational medical products. In this role you will also undertake planning and preparatory work, contribute to participant recruitment and scheduling, the preparation of study documents, and assist in maintaining safety within the School of Health Sciences research facilities.


About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Be proficient in the performance of venipuncture and cannulation and able to perform 12-lead ECG.
  • Have experience performing, monitoring and documenting assessment of medical history, behaviour, head-to-toe vital signs, urinalysis and adverse events.
  • Have experience dispensing and administering scheduled medications/drugs and be willing to administer Schedule 8 and 9 substances in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements (training can be provided).
  • Have a high level of interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to work as directed, with thoroughness and attention to detail in terms of participant/patient care and testing protocols

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Division 1), with current AHPRA registration.
  • A valid Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to or upon commencement)
  • A current certificate of TransCelerate recognized Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training (or ability to obtain prior to or upon commencement).
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a National Police Check prior to commencing in the role.
