About the role

The House Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the current residential services in the Mt Evelyn region in Melbourne. This is a hands-on role with most of your time spent on site in the home with allocated administrative days.

You will mentor and lead a team of youth workers in providing purposeful 2:1 support to young people in residential care with high and complex behavioural needs. You will bring your leadership skills to provide a secure base for our young people within the home, liaising with culturally appropriate services, and providing opportunities for the young people to connect with the culture in which they identify within.

You will strive to enhance the lives of young people in the residential setting, incorporating a therapeutic, trauma informed approach within the daily structure and purposeful programming.

This is a permanent role with working days of Monday to Friday. There would be rostered on call cover required (This is shared amongst House Managers).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, support and provide reflective supervision and team meetings to a team of residential workers, and lead staff to work as a team in the best interests of young people in care
  • Ensure the home is a place that is emotionally and physically safe to foster growth and resilience
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Departmental Case Plan (where applicable) 
  • Support staff to apply the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate and respond to crisis incidents 
  • Undertake rostering of residential workers 

 

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in leading and supervising a team 
  • Experience working with complex behaviours 
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar 
  • Experience in the co-ordination and management of 24-hour residential services for vulnerable people
  • Current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • First Aid/ CPR & NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain if successful)

 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
