Family Violence Case Manager

Part time (.8 EFT)
Based in the Southern Metro Region

The Role:

The role of Family Violence Case Manager is to provide support and work alongside women and children who have experienced Family Violence and to assist clients of the service to maximise their ability to live independently.  This includes information provision, advocacy, referral to allied support services, as well as case planning, risk assessment and goal setting.  Practical support is also a component of the role and may include assistance to attend court, complete application forms and assist in enrolling children into school and services. 

As most women entering the refuge require upon exit, the role is also responsible for working with women towards securing alternative accommodation.  This includes liaison with homelessness services and housing providers, including real estate agencies.

Selection Criteria:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Diploma Community Services, Bachelor Social Work), and/or extensive experience in the field.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to homelessness and homelessness service system

  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to family violence, including knowledge of the feminist framework regarding gendered violence

  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and needs facing women and their children enduring and escaping family violence who may also present with complex needs and marginalisation including homelessness, AOD, mental health, disability, legal issues, isolation, poverty, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge about case management frameworks and principles

  • Demonstrated administrative skills, including high level of data accuracy and uptake and strong attention to detail. Has high level computer literacy. Strong computer literacy, demonstrated experience utilising Microsoft. Excellent time management & organisational skills

  • Can demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as advanced interpersonal skills. Has experience of writing quality reports, submissions and successful grant applications.
