About the job
We are looking for a Pathways Student Support Officer to come and join our Students & Academic Services department. You will act as the initial point of contact to service all students from the Foundation & Pathways area providing high-level customer service to the clients of Swinburne University English Language Centre (SUELC) and Foundation & Pathways.
The role handles initial prospective and current student enquiries, referring and connecting them to the appropriate academic and service areas within the University (manager/team leader/teachers, Student HQ, International). Dedication to providing outstanding customer service and the ability to communicate cross-culturally is critical to this role.
A major component of this role will be to ensure the attendance monitoring and counselling requirements for International students in both ELICOS and Foundation Year programs are monitored and reported. This will include ensuring legislative, compliance, duty of care and Swinburne best practice expectations are met.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an associate diploma and at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of a post-trades certificate or advanced certificate and extensive relevant experience as a technician; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Exemplary customer service skills and demonstrated passion for improving customer experience.
• Demonstrated cultural and social sensitivity and advanced cross-cultural communication skills.
