Come join the Student Equity & AccessAbility department in this integral role and supportive team.
We are looking for a passionate individual to work with our students and be responsible for the assessment, delivery, coordination and administration of services with whom the University is required to negotiate reasonable adjustments under relevant State and Commonwealth legislation. AccessAbility Services works with all Swinburne students, including Higher Education (HE), Pathways and Vocational Education (PAVE), Swinburne Online (SOL), and Open Universities Australia (OUA).
Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Equity and AccessAbility Services, this position is responsible for liaison with a wide range of university academic and administrative staff, with external agency providers of services and with the community to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service within available resources. You will negotiate and monitor reasonable adjustments with students that enable and facilitate access to and participation in tertiary study, that enhance educational opportunity and encourage positive graduate outcomes.
Additional responsibilities include: the monitoring of resources including financial, ongoing use of the client database and facilitating ad-hoc training sessions and you will provide advice to the University community.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience and / or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people living with disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions.
• Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of clientele, to negotiate on disability support or reasonable adjustment issues and to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
