About the job
The Senior Recruitment Consultant (Academic Portfolio) provides a high level, full service recruitment and selection offering to the University with a specific focus on academic roles across the University, including senior leadership roles.

By utilizing strategic sourcing and targeted marketing techniques, this role will proactively identify and approach suitable candidates within passive and non-passive markets.

Working across all faculties and academic disciplines, this role will be responsible for developing a recruitment strategy for academic roles, including senior leadership positions, incorporating talent pooling, candidate engagement; selection through ‘best in class’ interview practices and other assessment tools; and candidate experience and care.

Reporting to the Recruitment Manager, the Senior Recruitment Consultant (Academic Portfolio) will be responsible for all aspects of the recruitment lifecycle aswell as maintaining Swinburne’s brand and reputation in the external market.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Delivery of high level end-to-end recruitment processes for academic roles across the University by:

  • Utilising strategic sourcing, including ‘headhunting’, marketing techniques and networking, to attract top talent
  • Maintain up to date talent pools to ensure job ready candidates
  • Providing high touch management of talent with a focus on engagement and candidate care
  • Evaluate candidates, including developing long and shortlists, oversee and participate in interviews, and advise on the use of psychometric assessments
  • Negotiate employment details and manage the offer process
  • Develop a training and development strategy for stakeholder groups including building online resources and delivery of relevant and high impact content

• Develop strong working relationships with key senior stakeholders and hiring managers, including those at Executive level, to influence and collaborate with on developing recruitment strategies and plans
• Develop and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies to ensure agency engagement is in line with recruitment practices and organisational strategies
• Partner with key stakeholders to guide and drive diversity initiatives to meet organisational wide targets
• Develop strong external relationships with relevant groups and acts as a brand ambassador for Swinburne university
• Contribute to the development of a university wide global mobility strategy and implement this within your stakeholder group

About you
You have a deep understanding of academic recruitment within Higher Education, acquired as a recruiter within this sector or an academic with expertise in talent identification and attraction.

Within your previous roles, you have developed the ability to understand complex talent requirements and develop short, medium and long term strategies to address those requirements including establishing talent pools of engaged candidates for future needs.

You have high level interpersonal communication skills at all levels within higher education, and have demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in working towards timelines with multiple, complex projects, you are adept at working independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
