About the job
As our Technical Officer (Nursing and Health) you will provide a high level of technical support within the dedicated laboratories to teaching staff within the Department of Health, Science and Community including the use, maintenance and calibration of specialized equipment.

In this role you will work closely with Nursing and Health management and teaching staff, to ensure that training and support is provided in a timely manner for all laboratory and clinical requirements. The position will be responsible for ensuring laboratory consumables and equipment are purchased, maintained, stored and disposed appropriately.

You will need to possess well-developed organisational, time management and problem solving skills, be extremely flexible, have the ability to use initiative, be responsive to the needs of those that the position directly supports and be able to work collaboratively with a range of staff across the Department to successfully operate in a dynamic environment while maintaining a strong focus on great customer service.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A relevant qualification in a health discipline, or significant equivalent industry experience.
• Significant knowledge and demonstrated experience in the procurement, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, preferably in nursing and health environment.
• Well-developed word processing, spreadsheet and database skills. Familiarity with the use of propriety software for laboratory or clinical equipment and systems.
• A good uderstanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and experience in contributing towards the development of Safe Operating Procedures.
Desirable Simulation Experience:
• Operation and maintainence of simulation resources including computer software and hardware, virtual reality equipment and simulation mannequins.
