Data Analyst – Pricing Centre of Expertise
 
The purpose of the Pricing Centre of Expertise is to drive strategic, innovative and value-driven approaches to pricing decisions whilst balancing shareholder and customer outcomes.
As a Data Analyst you will leverage your data and analytics toolset to deliver demonstrable business value through high-quality strategic analysis, all the while balancing sophistication with commercial pragmatism.
 
On an average day you might focus on:
  • Building robust data assets to enable analysis and insights
  • Data wrangling, visualisation and exploration to extract insights to inform pricing strategies
  • Modelling the financial impact of different pricing strategies
  • Building or automating various processes required by the team
  • Building, refreshing or refining predictive models used for various pricing related insights
  • Engaging with our Frontline to understand their business processes, and customer behaviour
  • Implementing statistically sound approaches to measure the effectiveness of a proposed pricing strategy

What you bring to the Pricing COE?
 
First and foremost we are looking for a business-focused data analyst/scientist who is a self-starter with a strong desire to leverage and further develop their financial modelling and banking knowledge.  Key skills or interests should include:
 
  • Superior ability to execute on commercial requirements
  • Excellent data wrangling skills:
    • Investigating existing data sources (eg. Teradata, GIW, ECDM, AAP)
    • Understanding and applying data exploration and cleaning techniques
    • Combining disparate data sources into new data assets
  • Pricing principles and financial concepts in banking:
    • Price elasticity
    • Customer value and behaviour
  • A sound understanding of standard statistical methods and optimisation approaches:
    • Summary statistics such as mean, median, and percentiles
    • Predictive modelling approaches such as regression and decision trees
    • Clustering approaches
    • Optimisation techniques
  • Experience applying statistical methods in various tools such as SAS, R, Python, or Excel/VBA
  • Experience visualising data and using tools such as Tableau or Qlik
  • Experience presenting analysis results to stakeholders and working with them to refine approaches and outcomes
 
 
To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively
  • Strong learning agility and curiosity
  • Proficiency programming in SAS, SQL, R, Python or VBA
  • A sound understanding of home loans, deposits, commercial lending, treasury or related businesses is desired but not essential
2+ years of experience working in a commercial environment (outstanding recent graduates may also be considered)
