About the Job
As Director of Business Performance & Deputy CFO you will function as the “right hand” of the VP of Operations & Chief Finance Officer and will be heavily involved in strategic, budgeting, forecasting and planning activities. A key focus of the role is to lead the Business Performance team whose purpose is to support the University’s strategic, commercial and operational decision making with reporting, analysis and insights into business performance and with this, providing recommendations and opportunity for improvement.

This role also provides support and leadership via dotted line to the Financial Controller and the financial reporting, taxation, treasury and transactional service team.

You will work collaboratively and in close partnership with all Senior Executives, Corporate Services and Academics, supported by a team across portfolios to proactively provide detailed interpretation, advice and constructive challenge as it relates to the University wide operating plan, budgeting, forecasting, cost efficiencies and margin. You will also assist the CFO in managing and controlling the organisation’s financial processes, making the necessary changes to upgrade and improve process, policies or procedures, and develop the team.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A degree in business, finance or commerce and membership of the Australian Society of CPA or the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants or international equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in a commercial finance role in a large complex organization
• Demonstrated ability to lead and make a significant contribution to the development of strategic financial policies and plans
• Demonstrated leadership and team building skills and proven experience in leading, coordinating and motivating staff across a range of diverse functions and activities
